Kate Westfall, Managing Director – Marketing & Events
Email: kate [at] newseedadvisors [dot] com
At NewSeed, Kate oversees and produces all Agriculture 2.0 events worldwide. Prior to joining NewSeed, she worked as Director of Operations for the International Federation of Competitive Eating where she produced the Nathan’s Famous Fourth of July International Hot Dog Eating Contest, attended by 40,000 spectators and viewed by more than one million television viewers. Kate earned her M.S. in Food Culture and Communications from the University of Gastronomic Sciences, founded by Carlo Petrini in the Emilia-Romagna region of Italy. During her course of study, she traveled to 11 countries, examining the particular food cultures and practices of each, including anthropology, history, sustainability, marketing and economics. Kate has shown a strong commitment to ensuring biodiversity and sustainable food systems for a growing and changing world. The move from developing eating contests to attending the Slow Food-founded University was not an obvious one, but each of these experiences have led to a keen knowledge and point of comparison between the way the food system works in other countries as well as our own.
